Rape Culture

" Rape " a word that has changed many women's life.
A word that has killed them from inside.
A word that steals the prettiest smile.
A word that has changed many women's life.

India is known for its culture and beliefs.
It is known for the dignity of the women but not anymore. In our country, on the one hand, we worship Devi Durga, and on the other hand, a woman who is also a form of goddess is raped. In India rape is the 4th most common crime against women. It is one of the major social issues which need immediate attention.

Do you know why rape happens?
If we ask this question from some narrow-minded people they would just say ' might be the woman/girl have worn the short dress that's why rape has happened ' like seriously
Do the dresses provoke?
Are women clad in sarees and burqas not raped?
What about a 5 years old girl, an old-age woman, or a woman with an unsound mind?
Do they all had wore short dresses? No, right!
" Rape does not happen because of clothes it happens because of a evil inside some people "

India used to believe in the concept of
"Mathru Devo bhava" means to worship women or mothers but now if we take a look at the number of rape cases that arise in India daily then this concept is just a concept. In India, not a single day passes without hearing a case at all about the rape of a woman. According to the 2019 Annual report of the National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB), 32033 cases were registered across the country, or an average of 88 cases daily.

What do rape victims feel?
Rape is one of the most disturbing traumas that can happen to a person. If we just think of it we feel so disgusting what about the one who faces this thing?
'Rape Victims' have to face a lot of things.
They lost themselves, felt apart, and live in the darkness, crying from inside and hurt like hell.

How does our Indian society see rape victims?
In our Indian society, the problem is whenever any rape happened only the victim is questioned and not the rapist.
This hypocritic society would ask millions of questions from the victims and sometimes even blame herself for the rape (short clothes and heavy makeup ). Not only this they will give them " so-called life gyaan " on how to protect and prevent yourself, what to wear, at what time you have to come back home, and many more...
And also this hypocritic society will do candle march and do all the justice things.
And then one day this whole drama will stop.

We all agree that the government has taken several measures regarding the prevention of rape but how are these measures gonna work when there is a problem in the system itself.
A few days back Senior Congress leader Ramesh Kumar can be heard saying " There is a saying when rape is inevitable, lie down and enjoy it " after this comment instead of opposing him all MLA's including the speaker laughed, and some even hooted.
This shows the sexist mentality of these people and sadly these people are our lawmakers.

The candle march and protest can't stop rape and it's high time to analyze the cause of rape and take action about how to prevent it rather than protest.
We should shape people's mentality from the beginning. Teach your boys to respect girls. Men who grow up without any respect for women treat women as an object for their whole life.
Sex education should be given in educational institutions.
Teach the girl's self-defense techniques.
It will boost their confidence in their physical strength and this will empower them.
" No candle march no slogan only actions against rape "

Thankyou😊

वृद्ध आश्रम ( old age home )
